The Journey
Who are you and how do you spend your time?
I am Ana Maria, a dreamer, a believer, and an action-taker! I believe that knowing oneself is a lifelong journey. Yet, from the little that I know about myself I can say this: I am a being that loves life. I love to feel, to move, to experience, to explore. Self-discovering, traveling and surrounding myself with loved ones and interesting/inspiring people are some of my favourite things to do. I am currently based in London, and I spend most of my time creating content and growing the social accounts of Pensight, a tech startup in the coaching space.
What does impact to you?
Impact = the mark that I can leave on someone or something. It can be positive or negative. Yet for me, the word and its meaning have a positive connotation. It reminds me:
…that we are more capable of achieving remarkable things than we can ever imagine
…of the ripple effect that our actions can have
…that some things don't have to be big to have an impact
…it also reminds me of the responsibility that I have first, towards myself and then, towards this world, to make it even an ounce better
How do you make a positive difference in the world?
By shining light and spreading love. By not judging. By being there for those who need it. By seeing the full half of the glass and helping other to do the same. Professionally, apart from sharing love and good energy in my content (blog, podcast, reels), at the core, I inspire people not only to dream and believe in their dreams but also show them step-by-step how to turn those into a reality. More specifically I guide coaches and creators to make a living from their passion all while having an impact!
The Lessons
How has your journey of making an impact changed you?
It made me a better person. As well as increased my motivation to become the best version of myself. Because if I become better, I have more to give. It also taught me that having an impact doesn't have to be a grand gesture or something at scale. Small things can have a very big impact too. For a long time, I had this desire to “make an impact” but being on this journey made me question, “Why do I actually want that?” as well as “What sort of impact do I want to have?”. And because I have the “Why” and “What”, I can now focus on the “How” to make it happen.
What's a challenge you have encountered most often and how did you tackle it?
That wanting to make an impact is not enough. You have to have the necessary tools to be able to do that. I have also found that many times the people who have the power to have a big impact, are either complacent or think on a small scale (because they don't believe in themselves or are not aware of what's possible). In this case, getting a coach/mentor or being part of a supportive community helps.
What's the biggest lesson you have learned on your journey so far?
That nothing gets done without work. People don't get lucky to be where they are. It's really about discipline, consistency, and persistence. I have also learned that success is a lot about mindset and perspective, as well as working smart. There is only so much time and energy we have, so finding the best way to invest it makes a difference. I am also learning that the “do it all alone” mentality is not a sign of power and can actually pull you down. Nonetheless, I have learned that I am here to play the long game.
The Inspiration
Who did you recently inspire to create impact? How?
I continually inspire others to go for their dreams and do the things that they want irrespective of what others think of them. How? By following their intuition and at times taking a leap of faith and jumping!
What advice would you give to other women who want to have a positive impact?
Work on yourself. Become the best version of yourself. Fill in your cup first! There is so much more to give when you are in a good state: mentally, physically and spiritually. That aside, you don't have to make a grand gesture to make a positive difference. Small things can mean so much. Remind yourself that everything you can imagine is possible. Add belief to that, and you are halfway there. Now it's time to go for it! You've got this!
